A Swedish study published in Nature found that dog ownership is linked to your DNA. According to their findings, the heritability of dog ownership was estimated at 57 percent for females and 51 percent for males.

Researchers analyzed the Swedish Twin Registry for their study, which documents information about twins born in the country. 35,035 twin pairs were included in their research.
