39 Million Americans Can't Afford a Summer Vacation, Study Finds

39 million Americans won’t be taking a summer vacation this year because they can’t afford it, finds a Bankrate.com report. 44% of the people they surveyed said the main reason why they can’t are the bills they have to pay.

The Bankrate survey found 52% of Americans are planning on taking a summer vacation this year, 26% are definitely not planning one and 22% aren’t sure yet. The average expected expense among the ones who are planning one is about $1,980.
