U.S. Officials: Air Force Needs to Grow to Stay Ahead of China and Russia

The U.S Air Force says it will need to grow sharply over the next decade or so to stay ahead of China and Russia, Reuters reports.

Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said a preliminary analysis shows the U.S’s current size would not be big enough to preserve America’s edge.

According to Reuters, the Air Force would need more than 40,000 personnel for a total of 386 squadrons, which is up 24 percent from the current 312.
