Hurricane Florence now a Category 4 Storm, Headed for East Coast

Hurricane Florence has now been upgraded to a Category 4 storm, as it takes aim at the Southeastern U.S.

The National Hurricane Center says currently Florence has maximum sustained winds near 130 mph and is considered “life-threatening.” The earliest the storm surge will reach the coast of the Carolinas is Wednesday night, but the most likely time is Thursday morning.

As of this taping, North Carolina and South Carolina have issued mandatory evacuations and along with Virginia have declared states of emergency.
