Transmission of NDM Bacteria Between Dogs and Humans Found
For the first time ever, transmission of bacteria between dogs and humans has been reported.
A study published in the journal Eurosurveillance says in 2015 an NDM E. coli bacteria was found in two Finnish dogs and their owner.
According to researchers, the results of the study from molecular analysis show transmission of the NDM bacteria most likely occurred from human to dog, since the bacteria has never been observed in animals in Finland before the report.
The origin of the NDM bacteria was not discovered in the study.
