Trump Administration Proposes to Roll Back Obama-era Fuel-efficiency Standards
The Trump administration proposed a freeze on fuel-efficiency standards after 2020. The move would roll-back standards set by the Obama administration.
The proposal is also seeking to reject a waiver that allows California and 12 other states to adopt even stricter standards.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the freeze will give Americans access to safer and more affordable vehicles.
Opponents of the measure say the move would eliminate the nation’s best tool against climate change.
The EPA is seeking public comment on the proposal.
