China Says U.S. Will Not Have Its Way in Trade War by 'Blackmail'

The U.S. is reportedly looking to escalate its trade war with China and raise its 10% tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese-made goods to 25%. China says the U.S. won’t have its way by “pressuring or blackmail.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said they will take countermeasures to “safeguard our legitimate and legal rights and interests.”

There may be some good news - Bloomberg reports anonymous sources say U.S. Treasury and Chinese officials are having private meetings to find ways to resume negotiations.
