Supreme Court Upholds Donald Trump Travel Ban

In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court upholds President Donald Trump’s travel ban and rejects the notion that it discriminates against Muslims. Trump reacted in a tweet, saying “Wow!”

The majority opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts, says, “The Proclamation is expressly premised on legitimate purposes: preventing entry of nationals who cannot be adequately vetted and inducing other nations to improve their practices.” The majority opinion goes on to say the policy covers just 8% of the world’s Muslim population and countries that have been previously designated by Congress or previous administrations as posing national security risks.
