Canada Legalizes Recreational Marijuana
Canada’s parliament has legalized recreational marijuana use, becoming only the second country to do so. Uruguay was the first country to do so in 2013. Medical use of cannabis has been legal in Canada since 2001.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted a message that reads, “It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana - and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate.”
Canadians should be able to purchase and consume recreational cannabis by September.
