China Says US has Launched Trade War

China said the U.S. has launched a trade war and vows to firmly defend the interests of its people after the U.S imposed a 25 percent tax on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods.

In a statement, China’s Ministry of Commerce said China firmly opposes the move, saying it not only damages bilateral interests, but also undermines the world trade order.

The tariffs are meant to punish China for intellectual property theft.
