The fifth top place is Memphis, Tennessee where $1 million will last for 24.23 years; number 4 goes to Tulsa, Oklahoma where $1 million will last 24.31 years. GoBankingRates says Tulsa’s average housing expense is only 57 percent of the national average. At the third spot is Austin, Texas, where $1 million lasts for 24.53 years. While Austin has a very high average housing expense the annual cost of living is low.  At number two is Oklahoma City, where $1 million will last 24.58 years. Oklahoma City offers cheap housing, healthcare and utilities. And, the U.S. city where your $1 million will last the longest is Houston, Texas! It’ll last for 25.96 years. According to GoBankingRates, Houston has low to moderate costs across the board and the lowest grocery cost.
