Desiree Linden Becomes First American Woman to Win Boston Marathon Since 1985

American Desiree Linden became the first American woman to win the Boston Marathon since 1985.  

It was a rainy and windy during 122nd Boston Marathon, but Linden was able to fight through it all for the win. Linden told ESPN, “My hands were freezing, and there are times where you were just stood up by the wind. It was comical how slow you were going, and how far you still had to go.”

Her winning time was 2 hours, 39 minutes and 54 seconds.
