Austin Police Chief Calls Bomber 'Domestic Terrorist'

Austin interim Police Chief Brian Manley called the Austin bomber a “domestic terrorist,” after initially saying the bomber’s attacks were not domestic terrorism. Manley’s statement was made on KUT-FM, Austin’s public radio station.

Manley previously said regarding Mark Conditt’s confession video, "He does not at all mention anything about terrorism, nor does he mention anything about hate. But, instead, it is the outcry of a very challenged young man talking about challenges in his personal life that led him to this point."

KUT-FM reports Manley said he didn’t refer to Conditt as a “domestic terrorist” because he’s not a prosecutor and the term has a legal definition.
