United Airlines Suspends Shipments of Pets in Cargo Hold
United Airlines has suspended shipment of pets in airplane cargo compartments as the company conducts a review of the program. The announcement comes on the heels of public backlash against United’s treatment of traveling pets after a puppy died onboard a flight when a flight attendant insisted the carrier it was in be placed into an overhead bin and a dog that was bound for Kansas was flown to Japan instead.
United says they will not accept any new reservations for their PetSafe program. The suspension does not affect pets that travel in aircraft cabins.
