Majority of Seniors Think Medicare Should Cover More, Poll Finds
The majority of seniors, 79% of older voters, say they want Medicare to cover more.
A new poll by The Senior Citizens League found that seniors want Medicare to cover routine dental care, vision, and hearing services. According to the report, dental coverage rates drop dramatically once people turn 65 and enroll in Medicare and by age 75, only one-in-four people has dental insurance.
The study says people delay getting needed dental care and poor teeth and gum health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, respiratory illnesses, cancer, and sleep apnea.
