Sorry, Cat People! Science Says Dogs Are Smarter
Sorry cat people, but it’s been scientifically proven -- canines are smarter than felines! A new study published in the journal, Frontiers in Neuroanatomy, looked at the number of neurons in animals cerebral cortex and it turns out dogs have about 530 cortical neurons and cats have...250 million. On top of that, researchers found size doesn’t mean brainier.
They discovered a golden retriever dog has more cortical neurons in its brain than the striped hyena, African lion and even the brown bear -- even though those animals have bigger brains. Dog people, there’s much more research that needs to be done, so while this might not be the end of the debate, at least you can tell the cat people in your life -- there’s biological proof dogs are smarter than cats.
