Facebook Announces Sweeping Changes to News Feeds, Stock Falls
Facebook’s shares fell more than five percent after its CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced sweeping changes to algorithms that control the content of its users’ News Feeds. Reuters reports Facebook could close with one of its biggest one-day declines.
Zuckerberg said the News Feeds will now prioritize content family and friends share over content from publishers and brands. Zuckerberg told The New York Times the changes will lead to users’ seeing more content with “meaningful interaction” on their News Feeds, while reducing the amount of “passive content.”
