States Sue Trump Administration Over Plans to end DACA
The state of California is suing President Donald Trump’s administration over its plans to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Maine, Maryland and Minnesota are joining the lawsuit.
California attorneys argue the move to end DACA is unconstitutional, saying Dreamers gave personal information to apply for the program and were told that it wouldn’t be used against them, using that personal information would violate the Fifth Amendment.
A group of 15 states filed a different lawsuit a week before in the Eastern District of New York to overturn the DACA decision.
