Artificial Sweeteners Linked to Weight Gain, Study Finds

Diet soda or regular soda -- diet sounds like the healthier option, but is it? New research suggests it might not be.

A study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that consumption of certain artificial sweeteners was association with increased body mass index, hypertension, type 2 diabetes among other health risks.

Scientists say they still need more evidence and studies before making a conclusion on the long term risks or possible benefits of artificial sweeteners.
