DC, Maryland Sue Trump Over Hotel Payments

Attorney generals for Washington D.C. and Maryland sued President Trump Monday, alleging that he has violated constitutional anti-corruption clauses by accepting millions of dollars in payments and benefits from foreign governments since becoming president.

CNN reports the lawsuit cites Trump’s hotel in Washington among other hotels, golf courses and other commercial properties. The attorney generals told reporters foreign governments are spending money at Trump’s properties to win the favor of the president.

The attorney generals involved in the suit are Democrats.
