Trump Says He Would be 'Honored' to Meet Kim Jong-un

Trump told Bloomberg News he would meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un under the right circumstances and would be honored to do so. His comments were made amid rising tensions between the U.S. and North Korea over the country’s nuclear and missile programs.

Trump went on say in the interview that most political people would never say they would meet with the North Korean leader, but reiterated under the right circumstances he would.

After Trump made those comments, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said the conditions for meeting with Kim Jong-un aren’t there yet, North Korea’s “provocative behavior” would have to “ratcheted down” first. Spicer said Trump said he would be honored to meet Kim Jong-un because “he’s still a head of state.”
