Dogs Love Reggae, Study Finds

Yah, mon. Chillin' to reggae is apparently the way to de-stress -- if you're a dog. That's according to scientists from the Scottish SPCA and the University of Glasgow, who published their findings on which music relaxed shelter dogs the most in Physiology & Behavior.

Researchers played five different genres of music for kennelled dogs - Soft Rock, Motown, Pop, Reggae and Classical. Entertainment Weekly reports scientists outfitted the dogs with heart monitors to gauge their stress levels.

The Guardian reports a professor involved in the study says this means dogs, like humans, have individual music preferences. Soft rock was also a preferred doggy choice.

The BBC reports now the Scottish SPCA said it plans to invest in sound systems for their kennels.
