Trump Signs Directive to Send Americans Back to the Moon
U.S. President Donald Trump signs a directive that will send Americans back to the moon and Mars. A spokesman told Reuters “Space Policy Directive 1” will order NASA “to lead an innovative space exploration program to send American astronauts back to the Moon, and eventually Mars,” and the move will “...help America become the driving force for the space industry, gain new knowledge from the cosmos, and spur incredible technology.”
According to SpaceNews, Trump made the decision based on recommendations from the National Space Council.
The signing marks the 45th anniversary of the last crewed mission to the moon.
