Donald Trump Freezes EPA Grants, Tells Employees To Stop Talking To The Press
Multiple media outlets report President Donald Trump ordered freezes on new regulations out of federal agencies and federal employees have been told to stop communicating with the press.
ProPublica reports President Donald Trump has put a freeze on grants and contracts by the Environmental Protection Agency. The Associated Press reports the USDA has banned the release of new releases, photos, fact sheets, news feeds and social media content. The Huffington Post reports EPA employees were told not to blog, post on social media, issue press releases or update their websites. The Department of Health and Human Services is another agency that has been told not to communicate with the press.
Vox Media reports the ordering of freezes is a standard move -- George W. Bush and Barack Obama issued similar orders when they took office. Vox says this allows the Trump administration to put a hold on new regulations as they prepare for further action.
