Canadian Hostage John Ridsdel Killed By Islamic Militants

A Canadian held hostage in the Philippines by Islamist militants has been killed, Canadian authorities announced today.  68-year-old John Ridsdel was abducted along with three others in September of last year at the Oceanview Resort which is in an area home to an Islamist militant group linked to al Qaeda who are known to prey on foreigners for ransom money.

Videos released by the militant group showed the four captives surrounded by heavily armed men.

Riddled was killed after the ransom deadline expired, no word on the status of the remaining 3 captives, another Canadian, a Norwegian, and a woman from the Philippines.
