Capitol Shooting Suspect Identified As Larry Dawson

It was a scary afternoon in Washington DC today as US Capitol police have shot a male suspect after he pulled out a gun in the visitors center of the Capitol building.

The suspect, Larry Russell Dawson of Tennessee, was entering the building through the metal detectors when they went off and he was stopped by security. He then pulled out a gun, which is when police shot him. The entire complex was locked down for nearly an hour but the capitol is now only open for official business only. The visitor center remains closed.

The only other injury reported was a woman who was nearby and was allegedly hit by shrapnel. Most lawmakers were away from the Capitol today.
