Hulk Hogan and Gawker Reach $31 Million Settlement
Wrestler Hulk Hogan has reached a $31 million settlement with Gawker Media. The settlement comes after years of litigation. Gawker founder, Nick Denton, wrote on his blog that the saga is over.
Back in March, a Florida jury awarded Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry G. Bollea, $140 million in damages. The lawsuit stems from Gawker's publication of video showing Hulk Hogan having sex with a friend's wife.
Bollea's lawsuit against Gawker was funded by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel.
Denton wrote they decided to settle because "all-out legal war with Thiel would have cost too much, hurt too many people and there was no end in sight."
