Iraqi Forces Enter Mosul for First Time in Two Years
Iraqi forces have entered Mosul city limits, marking the first time in two years troops have been inside the city.
Troops launched an operation two weeks ago to take back Mosul from Islamic State rule.
Rudaw reports the Iraqi war media office says Iraqi F16 warplanes bombed militants in Mosul, killing 116 jihadists and destroyed an ISIS air defense sites. Military Times reports troops have taken the state television building despite strong resistance from ISIS fighters.
