Bob Dylan Wins The Nobel Prize In Literature
The winner of this year's Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. He's the first American to win the prize in more than two decades. Novelist Toni Morrison won in 1993.
The Swedish Academy says Dylan was awarded "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Dylan's win set off a firestorm on social media. Novelist Hari Kunzru tweeted, "This feels like the lamest Nobel win since they gave it to Obama for not being Bush." Supporters say Dylan deserves the win.
