Hillary Clinton’s use of emails is back in the news. LBN’s Ryan Gaumont reports that, according to Fox News, an FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of private emails when she was Secretary of State is expanding. According to Fox, the FBI will examine possible overlap of the Clinton Foundation charity with State Department business. The issues are whether public corruption laws were violated and whether regular processes were followed. The Clinton Foundation is a public charity.
Fox News reports that one intelligence source says the FBI would be upset if prosecution is not pursued in this case because “many previous public corruption cases have been made and successfully prosecuted with much less evidence than what is emerging in this investigation.” The issue is particularly sensitive because of the handling of the case involving former CIA Director David Petraeus. Petraeus shared highly classified information with his mistress but was charged only with a misdemeanor.
Fox News reports that, in the case of Hillary Clinton, there are over one thousand emails involved. Public corruption is the FBI’s top priority among criminal investigations.
